In the fall of 2018 my wife Laura, dog Louise, and I prepared for our big move from Detroit to Boston. With all the excitement that comes from moving to a new place with new surroundings, I wanted to celebrate a city and an area of the country that we absolutely love and couldn’t wait to explore. Overall the goal of this piece was to be a fun way to announce our upcoming relocation.

This project began while trying to create a simplified, recognizable skyline of the city of Boston. Because the shapes and forms are so fun and playful, I felt their animation into frame should carry this same mood. Each frame of each building was drawn by hand in Photoshop and composited together in After Effects to achieve this cascading reveal of the new city that we call home.
